12/11/2000 | Connon Odom | This station has not transmitted since 7 Dec due to battery failure. | Station Info | Data Graph |
12/7/2000 | Connon Odom | Only incomplete transmissions are being received now. Today's 1044 and 1444Z transmissions were not received. The battery is probably too low to trasnmit. | Station Info | Data Graph |
12/6/2000 | Connon Odom | Today's 1444Z transmission was incomplete (only received 259 of 449 characters) due to low battery voltage. | Station Info | Data Graph |
12/5/2000 | Connon Odom | The battery voltage has now dropped to 10.6 Vdc. | Station Info | Data Graph |
12/5/2000 | Connon Odom | The rainfall of 15.36" at 0615Z on 2 Dec with no recorded rainfall before or after is highly improbable. The hexadecimal characters for this data point are "40 58 40". After removing the NESS Binary encoding, this is "600" hex => 1536 decimal. The units are hundredths of an inch => 15.36" of rainfall. It appears that the correct data should have been "40 40 40" hex => 0" of rain. Two bits were probably inverted to change the middle "40" hex characters (binary 0100 0000) into "58" hex (binary 0101 1000). This kind of error wouldn't effect the parity and would go unflagged.
The 14.9 µR/Hr Gamma radiation spike at 0814Z on 2 Dec was coincident with spikes in the BaroP and RelHum data, indicating a common system noise source.
The Salmon Site station has been noisy since the last maintenance cycle (end of June). There have been several periods of excessive noise (see comments). The problem probably lies within the station. The 12 Vdc battery voltage has been steadily decreasing and is now down to 10.7 Vdc. The station will shortly begin to have partial transmissions, then missing transmissions, then will cease to transmit.

11/20/2000 | Connon Odom | The data is very noisy and unreliable from 16 through 19 Nov. | Station Info | Data Graph |
11/17/2000 | Connon Odom | The data on all channels has been excessively noisy since 10 Nov. | Station Info | Data Graph |
10/31/2000 | Connon Odom | Today's 9.1 µR/Hr Gamma radiation spike at 1329Z was coincident with spikes in the BaroP and RelHum data, indicating a common system noise source. | Station Info | Data Graph |
10/30/2000 | Connon Odom | Today's 9.5 µR/Hr Gamma radiation spike at 1444Z was coincident with a spike in the BaroP data, indicating a common system noise source. | Station Info | Data Graph |
10/30/2000 | Connon Odom | The 9.2 µR/Hr Gamma radiation spike at 1429Z on 27 Oct was coincident with a spike in the BaroP data, indicating a common system noise source. | Station Info | Data Graph |
